And that’s not all :-)

We’ll be giving away door prizes.

We’ll be holding a drawing for a free one-year membership, open to women who register to join the EWGA for the first time at the kick-off.

Former member thinking of re-joining? The EWGA is waiving the $25 reinstatement fee to former members who re-join at the chapter kick-offs.

The kick-off is also your opportunity to sign up for our EWGA chapter leagues, clinics, and mentoring program.

Rochester women’s golf leagues

The Rochester Region, NY Chapter of the EWGA runs a number of leagues at various courses for women golfers throughout the Rochester area — and we’ll have details and sign-up sheets at the Kick-Off. Note that although our leagues are also open to non-members, we give priority to EWGA members, and some of our leagues do fill up quickly. Members also receive discounted pricing on leagues.

Golf clinics to help women work on their games

We’ll have details, dates, and locations for our 2010 EWGA golf clinics available at the kick-off. These clinics are a great way for women golfers in the Rochester area to improve their golfing skills!

Mentoring program

New to the game of golf? Why not sign up for the EWGA Fairway Friends golf mentoring program? Through this program, beginning women golfers are paired with experienced golfers who will answer their golf-related questions and take them golfing at least twice during the 2010 season. Click here to read more about this program.

EWGA membership information and registration forms will also be available at the event.

Remember: Seating at this event is limited! Please download and mail your registration form today to reserve your seat!

Country club attire requested. No denim please.

Golf mentoring program helps Rochester women golfers learn the game

Are you a Rochester woman interested in learning the game of golf?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a golf mentor to help you?

We think so, too! That’s why the Rochester Region, NY Chapter of the EWGA is thrilled about the 2010 EWGA Fairway Friends golf mentoring program.

EWGA members who sign up for the Fairway Friends program will be assigned to an experienced woman golfer who can help answer golf-related questions.

Your mentor will also play golf with you at least a couple of times this summer to help you learn your way around a golf course. And she’ll help you identify EWGA activities you might want to participate in — so you can meet other women golfers and work on your game.

Program mentors — and “mentees” — also receive free gifts

But wait! There’s more! :-) The Fairway Friends program sponsor, Be the Ball 4U, is giving a free ball marker and divot tool to all Fairway Friends mentors. Fairway Friends mentees receive a free golf accessories pouch.

Sound interesting? We’ll have a Fairway Friends sign-up sheet at our March 20 Kick Off event at Midvale Country Club.

Or drop us a note using the form below, and we’ll contact you about the program as we get closer to the golf season.

Women's golf in Rochester: getting connected

With the 2010 golf season just around the corner (yes, we know about all the snow on the ground — but spring is on the way, we promise!) are you looking for ways to meet other Rochester women golfers?

If so, you’ve come to the right place! One of the main goals of the Rochester chapter of the EWGA is to help women golfers connect.

Here are some of the ways you can meet other Rochester women golfers through the EWGA:

  • Join an EWGA weekly league. We’re finalizing our 2010 women’s golf leagues right now, and will have sign-up sheets available at our March 20 Kick-Off at Midvale Country Club.  Many of our chapter members have made great golf friends by playing in leagues!
  • Participate in our weekend travel league. This league is a great way to play a variety of Rochester-area courses — and meet a cross-section of our chapter membership — without a big up-front commitment.
  • Sign up for chapter events. We sponsor a number of tournaments and other events throughout the year, and we’d love for you to join us!
  • Take a golf clinic. Meet other women golfers and work on your game. It’s like holing two chips with only one stroke!
  • Compete in our EWGA Chapter Championship. This tournament — the largest amateur women’s championship golf tournament in the world — provides opportunities for you to meet not only Rochester golfers, but (if you advance — and you know you can!) women from other EWGA chapters as well. And it’s a flighted tournament, so you can play regardless of your skill level.

So if you’re looking to meet other Rochester women golfers, our EWGA chapter has just what you need! Why not click here to join today?

Former member? Thinking of re-joining?

We just got some great news from national: as a special incentive, EWGA is waiving the $25 reinstatement fee for former members to join at Chapter Kick-Off events.

This means you can more affordably renew your membership.

So if you’re a former member thinking of rejoining, please plan to join us on Saturday March 20 at Midvale Country Club, 10:00 am to noon. See you then!

What is a GolfTEC swing analysis?

One of the benefits of joining the Executive Women’s Golf Association is the discounts. EWGA members get discounts on a variety of golf-related products and services, such as 10% off GolfSmith orders and and — for when you’re planning a golf vacation — discounts on greens fees at Troon resorts.

Here at the Rochester Region, NY chapter we also offer a number of discounts to exclusive to our own chapter members. Members get discounts on our leagues and clinics, for instance, and on registration to many of our events.

In fact, if you take advantage of all of our Chapter discounts alone, you will more than cover your membership dues!

EWGA discounts from GolfTEC

Our Rochester GolfTEC also offers a special discount to our chapter members: 20% off GolfTEC lessons — twice the 10% EWGA discount GolfTEC offers on a national basis.

And, as you’ve learned from recent e-newsletters and website articles, GolfTEC is offering you a free swing analysis at our February 25 GolfTEC open house.

For the swing analysis, GolfTEC uses swing and ball flight technology to capture data about your current golf swing as the basis for developing a plan to improve.

If you’re interested in going further, you can sign up for GolfTEC lessons — again, taking advantage of the 20% EWGA member discount.

GolfTEC lessons also take advantage of technology. For instance, you can view your lessons over the Internet, including full-motion video drills, reference materials, and audio clips from your instructor telling you precisely what your key thoughts are for each position in your swing.

That means you can practice your game any time, from your home or office.

Click here to learn more about GolfTEC Rochester.

And if you want to attend our GolfTEC Open House on February 25th, there’s still time. Click here for more information and to RSVP.

Dear EWGA Members. Did you know you can win great prizes by recruiting new members?

Pretty cool, wouldn’t you say?

Under the EWGA 2010 Member-Get-A-Member (MGAM) Campaign, sponsored by Nike Golf, if you recruit at least 2 people, you’ll be entered in a Chapter drawing for one of several unique Nike gifts :-)

Invite golfers to join

If you “recruit a threesome,” you are entered in a national drawing for one of 25 complimentary EWGA memberships.

If you “recruit a foursome” you are considered a top recruiter for our Chapter. You qualify for a Nike shoulder tote and are entered in a drawing for one of ten Nike Golf drivers.

Recruit 12 or more new members and you are entered in a drawing for a custom fitting for a new set of Nike Golf Clubs at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. Airfare and hotel included! You also win a Nike golf bag and will be recognized at this year’s EWGA national conference.

The 2010 MGAM Campaign runs through December 31, 2010.

It’s easy to enter the contest. All you do is:

  1. Download a membership application from the EWGA national site;
  2. Write your name in the space marked “How did you hear about EWGA/EWGA Member” (about 2/3 down the application);
  3. Give the form to the woman you’ve recruited to submit to national.

Bring friends to our March 20 Kick-Off!

You can also invite your golfing girlfriends to our 2010 Kick-Off Luncheon on March 20. We’ll have membership applications there for you and your friends to fill out.

Makes it even easier!

Only current paid members are eligible to win: you must be a member at the time the new member joins, and a member-in-good-standing at the time the prizes are awarded.

So tell all your golfing girlfriends and co-workers about the EWGA experience –  and good luck in the MGAM contest!

Come see us at the 2010 Rochester Golf Show

Our sponsor, Ravenwood Golf Course, has once again generously allowed us to share their booth at the show, so look for us there!

And be sure to enter your name in our drawing for a free EWGA membership :-)

The show is being held at the Dome Arena in Henrietta, Friday, February 12, 3-7 pm, Saturday, February 13, 10am – 7pm, and Sunday, February 14, 10am – 4pm.

Looking for a Rochester women's golf league?

One of the great things about the Rochester Region, NY Chapter of the Executive Women’s Golf Association: we run a number of leagues for women golfers.

Our leagues are open to both members and non-members (although members’ fees are discounted — one of the many benefits of joining the EWGA!)

We hold our leagues at courses all around the greater Rochester area — so you can find a league that’s convenient to home or work.

We also give you a number of scheduling choices. You can pick a league that plays at a day/time that is convenient for you as well.

Some of our leagues are casual. Others are more competitive. We have leagues to help beginners learn golf rules and etiquette, and leagues where you must have a handicap to play (but since you get free access to the Golf Life Management handicap system as part of your EWGA membership, that’s easy to do!)

All of our leagues have one thing in common, however: they are friendly and supportive places for women to socialize, network, and play golf.

We’re in the process now of planning our 2010 leagues.

We’ll have league sign-up sheets at our annual kick-off on March 20 at Midvale Country Club.

You can also stay in touch by signing up for our email list — use the button on the site’s left hand sidebar. Or reach out directly to our chapter League Chair here.

2010 New Membership Applications now online

If you’d like to join the Executive Women’s Golf Association, the new membership applications are now online.

This year they’re in writeable PDF format, to make it easier to fill them out and send them in electronically.

Here’s a link to the form.

Some FAQs about EWGA memberships:

  • Our association is open to women golfers at all levels, from beginners through experienced.
  • We give Rochester area women all kinds of opportunities for golf: competitive golf, fun golf — as well as socializing, business networking, and charity support.
  • EWGA National — not the Rochester chapter — processes all applications. When you click the link, you’ll find instructions on how to submit your completed application.
  • There are three different membership levels. A Classic Memberships is $125, an Executive Distinction Membershipis $325.00, and a Student Membership is $50.00.
  • Once you are a member, your fee for renewing in 2011 will be lower than the new member fee. For example, a Classic Membership renewal costs only $100.
  • EWGA membership benefits include a number of discounts — enough that you can even offset your membership fee completely!  (We’ll be adding details about discounts to this site shortly so check back soon!)
